Fiddler on the Roof is a show steeped in tradition and Director Andrew Benson says the company plans to breathe new life into this timeless musical when it hits The Concourse Theatre stage in Chatswood.
"This will be a bold and energetic presentation of this much loved musical" said Andrew Benson.
Fiddler is a show that has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences around the world for half a century with its humour, warmth and honesty.
"With a cast of over fifty performers onstage, old traditions and young love will collide in a joyous and timely celebration of life and I have no doubt it our production will appeal to a brand new generation."
Fiddler on the Roof follows the heart-warming journey of a family that has its traditional life turned upside down as the modern world starts to impact on life in their idyllic village.
At the centre of the tale is Tevye, a father of five daughters who struggles to keep his family together in a time of turmoil.
Taking on the iconic role played previously by stage legends such as Topol, Harvey Feisten and Australian Anthony Warlow is one of Sydney's community theatre's most celebrated performers and directors, Dennis Clements.
A NIDA acting graduate, Dennis has played some of music theatres most iconic roles including Billy Flynn in Chicago, Tateh in Ragtime, George in Sunday in the Park with George and Sweeney Todd. Most recently he directed My Fair Lady and Chess for Bankstown Theatre Company.
"Tevye is absolutely a bucket list role for me. I am very excited to offer my take on a character that has been immortalised by so many iconic performers, and loved by audiences around the world" said Dennis Clements.
Fiddler's celebrated score features some of musical theatres most loved songs such as If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition and Matchmaker. The songs will be guided by Musical Director Matt Herne with fresh high energetic and traditional choreography by Stephanie Edmonds.
"We have assembled one of the most accomplished community theatre production teams to bring this classic back to the stage" added Andrew Benson.
"We are truly blessed by the talent we have within our cast and we can't wait to bring the village of Anatevke to life on the Concourse stage.
"Whether it's a return to witnessing this heart-warming story or your first time with Tevye and his family, you won't want to miss the chance to see this legendary musical back on stage" concluded Andrew Benson.
