Willoughby Theatre Company is celebrating International Cat Day by finding out about the feline friends back at home for our CATS cast and crew members.
While our firecracker cast are flexing their felinity in the rehearsal room, we want to know about their magnificent moggies of their own. Whose cushions are kept warm by an easy-going ginger? Whose nights are blessed with the mewing of mousers or Maine Coons? Who has a patient pussycat awaiting their return after late night rehearsals? And who is keenly studying their cat’s every move to mimic onstage?
International Cat Day rolls around each year on August 8, and it’s a great opportunity for us to acknowledge one of our closest companions. Sure, we know that cats are often aloof or mysterious, dismissive, dissatisfied, disgruntled, or disapproving. They might shed too much, or yowl in the night, or demand more food. But at the end of the day. . . they’re also the ones who will sit directly on your face while you’re sleeping.
Tomcat banter aside, cats hold an incredibly special place in our hearts and our homes. They keep us company, offer us a warm snuggle (occasionally), keep our lungs filled with laughter, our hearts filled with love, and our eyes filled with tears (we recommend a good antihistamine).
This one’s for the cats! Thank you for the joy that you bring and for inspiring our community. And please, one day, will you let us rub your bellies?
Meet the cats behind CATS below, and don’t forget to book your tickets to the show!
